Over this weekend our family laid to rest our mother who, with our father, introduced each of us to the joys of music. She was a classically trained singer and played the piano. Her encouragement was to listen and enjoy music no matter if it was old time, country, rock, classical, jazz, pop, or Broadway. Each member of our family was encouraged to play an instrument or sing in choirs. In our home music was a common bond and continues to be. Our family band plays Old Time but we enjoy all types of music thanks to our parents influence. She and our father passed along a wonderful legacy that continues on with our children and theirs.
So we gathered this weekend to morn for our loss and celebrate her life the best way we know. It was great to have all there playing and singing many of our favorite Old Time tunes. The best part was having all of the young ones join in with flutes, Psaltry, and guitars.
If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician. I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music. – Albert Einstein
